Heroes of the Storm (also known as HotS) is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game developed by Blizzard Entertainment. The game features characters from several Blizzard universes, including Warcraft, Diablo, Overwatch, and Starcraft. Heroes of the Storm was originally named "Blizzard DOTA" and later changed to "Blizzard All-Stars" before changing to its final title.
Hero Brawler
Heroes of the Storm revolves around 5-versus-5 matches where a player on each team chooses a single character, each having different abilities and Talents. By slaying other characters and AI-controlled opponents, players collect experience, which increases their character's power and grants them access to new Talents. The objective of the match is to destroy the enemy's base, which is protected by a Fort. Each Fort contains their own towers, castles, healing fountains, and strong gates that prevent enemies from marching through them.
New eSports discipline
Heroes of the Storm has enjoyed great success as an eSports discipline, with Blizzard hosting annual tournaments at BlizzCon. In 2015 Heroes of the Storm World Championship featured a $500,000 prize pool. And 2016 marked the start of the new Heroes of the Storm Global Championship Circuit. It is run in a seasonal format, with each of the three seasons—Spring, Summer, and Fall—culminating in a Global Championship event. In 2016 the Circuit will be completed by a $1,000,000 tournament, Heroes of the Storm Fall Global Championship.
